Ozzy sues over rights to Black Sabbath name

Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has sued his former band mate Tony Iommi over the ownership of the group’s name.

Osbourne, 60, filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York, on Tuesday accusing the guitarist of falsely claiming to be the sole owner of the Black Sabbath name, his representatives said on Friday. (more…)

Buckcherry to support KISS tour

Buckcherry will support Kiss on all dates for the band’s upcoming North American tour.  The tour, which begins in September, made headlines last month when it was announced that Kiss had partnered with live music social networking site Eventful to route the tour through the top-voted North American markets as determined by demand on the Eventful website.

Judas Priest ‘Evil’ Live Album

Judas Priest has chosen 10 songs not previously released in live album form for its next concert set — “A Touch of Evil: Live,” which is due out July 14, in the midst of the band’s U.S. summer tour.

“A Touch of Evil” includes live renderings of longtime fan favorites such as “Painkiller,” “Dissident Aggressor, “Riding on the Wind,” “Between the Hammer & the Anvil” and “Eat Me Alive,” as well as “Hellrider” from “Angel of Retribution,” the group’s 2004 reunion album with frontman Rob Halford, and two tracks — “Death” and “Prophecy” — from last year’s rock opera “Nostradamus.”

I have some good news and some bad news for Thrash fans throughout the state of Florida. The good news is that Thrash is alive and well and appears to be making a comeback. The bad news is that there are only a small handful of Florida bands playing  high profile shows here so far. One band who is
making a mark is Sanford, FL based Great Awakening. They were most recently on the Masters of Disaster tour with three Thrash bands out of California. Witchhaven (San Bernardino), Exmortus (Whittier), and Bonded by Blood (Pomona).

Dan Donegan – Disturbed

Where does one begin an intro to this piece?!  I was lucky enough to spend some time with Dan Donegan guitarist for Disturbed.  It’s rare for Disturbed to have any quiet time. The band has been going non-stop since they hit the scene with a bang in 2000, following platinum album after platinum album and touring constantly.  And they are back with their most vicious, volatile and downright infectious offering, the Music As A Weapon 4 tour. AAMM: First of all congratulations on being together as a band for 10 plus years. That doesn’t happen too much these days!
Dan: Actually, David has been with the band for about 13 years, and I have been with Mike (drummer) for almost 16 yrs.
