Green Day closed out its summer North American tour on Tuesday night (August 25th) at the Los Angeles Forum, thrilling the packed arena with a show that lasted more than two hours and 45 minutes. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the crowd, “This is our last show of our tour tonight and we’re gonna play all f***ing night,” before leading the band into a marathon performance that included a monster medley of excerpts from Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You,” Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love,” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” Ozzy Osbourne’s “Believer” and a sing-along version of Guns ‘N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
The band also tackled the Beastie Boys’ “Girls,” the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and the Doors’ “Break On Through.”
As they’ve done throughout the trek, Green Day brought one fan onstage to sing “Longview” and another to play guitar on “Jesus Of Suburbia.”
Armstrong also lashed out at California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, saying it was time to get him out of office.
Green Day has been on the road since early July in support of its latest album, 21st Century Breakdown, which came out in May.
The band will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13th in New York City, before beginning a European jaunt later in the month.
