Police say James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, has been found dead at his home in Southern California.
Lt. John Domingo says the 28-year-old Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach. The Orange County coroner’s office is investigating the death.

Legendary Swedish death metallers, HYPOCRISY, have issued the following statement:
“It seems Santa has come early this year for HYPOCRISY! As previously reported, we were forced to cancel our recently scheduled tour with ENSIFERUM due to problems with work visas. Today we received the good news that we are now all cleared to enter the country. We are currently planning to come back to the US sometime in early 2010! We will let everyone know very soon when the tour and line up is confirmed. Thanks to all our fans for supporting HYPOCRISY all these years!”

The Eighties thrash metal scene consisted of — Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer! They will share the stage together for the first time in history next summer in Europe, according to a press release issued on Tuesday (December 15th). The foursome will join forces on selected dates of Europe’s traveling Sonisphere festival. Two shows have been confirmed so far, on June 16th in Poland and June 19th in the Czech Republic, with more to be announced.
Rumors of this tour began circulating earlier this year, following Metallica’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but were denied by members of all four acts. Now Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has said in a statement, “Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal’s big four would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time…what a mindf***! Bring it on!”
Armored Saint Announces Tracklisting For New Album “La Raza”!
Los Angeles metal legends Armored Saint are pleased to announce the tracklisting for the band’s recently completed album La Raza, the band’s first new album since 2001’s Nod to the Old School. La Raza was recorded at Tranzformer Studios in Burbank, CA, was produced by bassist Joey Vera, and engineered by Bryan Carlstrom and his assistant John Nuss.
